This 1854 farmhouse had undergone an extensive addition over the past few years. The couple had lived in England for many years (the husband is British) and British design influences and practical touches are present throughout the home. Everything has a place and a purpose—from the baking area with Carrera marble counters and pull-out cabinetry to the always-on Aga stove to a lower cabinet with a false back for a discreet dog door. The homeowners have four grown children who visit frequently and love to cook and entertain. The island’s oak countertop gives the family plenty of room to socialize and cook together, while a vintage dining table in the eating area extends to accommodate 12.
